Two Sticks Hill

Blackwood Acacia melanoxylon is in flower now

Hard to see, but the cleared area under the powerlines was a vast field of Early Nancys Wurmbea dioica




Site of the old Sherwood Homestead.  The homestead is long gone but the daffodils remain. In a sea of violets.




Closeups of some of the flowers. The daffodils are the variety Rip Van Winkle, first planted here at the homestead about 100 years ago.

Mt Cohen

Red-leaf Wattle Acacia rubida  


Ploughshare Wattle Acacia gunnii, low shrub with pale early flowers, spiky wedge shaped leaf


My first Early Nancy Wurmbea dioicia this spring - growing right on the border



Scribbly gum Eucalyptus rossii was dominant in the non-pine areas


A few markers along the ACT border- this was my favourite clearly showing "CT" which may mean Commonwealth Territory- uncertain.

Long Flat - Burnt Hill

After some rain, many little creatures were out in the damp but sunny conditions.  Canary Worm or Canary Flatworm Fletchamia sugdeni.


Female Mountain Grasshopper or Katydid Acripeza reticulata



Some kind of female orange mealy bug, possibly Monophlebulus sp.


Whip Snake or White-lipped Snake Drysdalia coronoides. Very small only about 20cm. 


One of only two Button Everlasting flowers seen on the walk Corinidium scorpioides


Black Sallee flowers are so tiny Eucalyptus stellulata
